- 1827: The Second Greek National Assembly appoints Ioannis Kapodistrias as Governor of the Hellenic State by a majority vote.
- 1829: The Greek War of Independence finally comes to an end, with the 1829 London Protocol recognising an autonomous Hellenic state under Ottoman suzerainty.
- 1830: The 1830 London Protocol establishes the independence of the new Hellenic state as an absolute monarchy under the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha in the person of Prince Leopold, who agrees to be

- 1914: The Black Hand fails to kill Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, because the Governor of Bosnia doesn't forget to alert their driver to change route, thus allowing them to avoid the fateful Latin Bridge.
- 1915: Following further affronts by the Serbian-sponsored Black Hand, Germany guides Austria's hand in an ultimatum, which results in the seemingly inevitable conflict that comes to be known as The Great War being finally triggered.
- 1916: The war goes on, the Balkan front heats up (for more details, see Balkans).
- 1917: Late in the year, the Russian Tzar Nicolas II falls to revolutionary forc
